A seventy-year old man, a scientific leader who had significant contribution in our country’s bean product industry, a sincere Buddhist with great aspirations to benefit all living creatures, spent 623 days, travelled more than 2000 Chinese kilometers on foot from Shandong Boshan to Anhui Jiuhua Mountain, by kowtowing in every three steps despite the weather condition, finally arrived at destination on December 6th, 2012. This day should be remembered by Chinese Buddhism. The moment when Venerable Master Renda entered the gate of Jiuhua and reached Jiuhua Street by kowtowing in every three steps, everyone on Jiuhua Mountain was deeply touched.
仁炟法师早年毕业于天津轻工业学院，主攻食品生物化学，是被国家人事部、国家科委认定为我国“豆制品跨世纪学科带头人”的高级工程师。1992年，仁炟法师在北京法源寺能行长老（临济宗第四十五代传人）座下皈依佛门，尔后出家；2000年在佛门泰斗本焕老和尚（临济宗第四十四代传人）座下受具足戒。2002年，仁炟法师率众修复建设禅宗祖庭山东省博山正觉寺，寺院建设伊始，资金匮乏，人单力薄。仁炟法师不顾年迈，从自身静脉中抽血累计2000多毫升，恭请书法家抄写大乘经咒九十余万字，结缘赠送。为报地藏王菩萨救护之恩，2005年农历二月二十一，仁炟法师以六十四岁高龄从博山正觉寺起香，三步一叩朝礼佛教圣地五台山，历时五个月，行程千余里。又于2011年农历二月二十一，以七十高龄再次踏上从博山正觉寺至安徽九华山三步一叩朝圣之路。
Venerable Master Renda was graduated from Tianjin University of Science & Technology (renamed in 2002), major in food biochemistry. He was selected as “leader of cross-century soy bean products” by national human resource and the state science and technology commission. In 1992, he converted to Buddhism under the guild of Venerable Master Nengxing in Beijing Fayuan Monastery (the 45th generation descendent of the Linji). A while after that he became a monk. In 2000, he was fully ordained under the guild of the most respected Venerable Master Benhuan (the 44th generation descendent of the Linji). Since 2002, he started to lead the restoration of Shandong Boshan Zhengjue Monastery, which is one of the birthplaces of Chan School. At the beginning of the restoration, Monastery was extremely lack of money and resource. Disregards his age, Venerable Master Renda donated more than 2000 ml blood, invited calligrapher to write down Mahayana sutra mantras using his blood (more than 900,000 words) and gave them to people. To thank Earth Treasure Bodhisattva’s kindness of saving and protecting him, on February 21st, 2005 ( lunar calendar), Venerable Master Renda lighted incense in Boshan Zhengjue Monastery and started his worship trip to Wutai Mountain by kowtowing in every three steps. The whole trip took five months and more than a thousand Chinese Kilometers. After that, on February 21st, 2011, he started the worship trip from Boshan Zhengjue Monastery to Anhui Jiuhua Mountain at his seventy.
2011年3月25日，农历二月廿一，普贤菩萨圣诞日，仁炟法师于山东省博山正觉寺地藏殿起香，历时623天，三步一叩，拜程两千余里，历经重重磨难，终于在2012年12月6日抵达九华山地藏菩萨肉身宝殿。仁炟法师三步一叩右绕地藏菩萨肉身宝塔三匝，最后在地藏菩萨圣像前虔诚地九叩。圆满此行。
March 25th, 2011, lunar calendar Feb. 21st, 2011, is the birthday of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, Venerable Master Renda lighted incense in Hall of Earth Treasure Bodhisattva of Shandong Boshan Zhengue Monastery, and started the worship trip. He spent 623 days and traveled more than 2000 Chinese kilometers, got through all kinds of hardships and finally arrived at the Hall of Earth Treasure Bodhisattva with real body of Bodhisattva in Jiuhua Mountain on Dec. 6th, 2012. He clockwise circled three times around the Bodhisattva’s real body pagoda by kowtowing in every three steps, and finally kneed on the floor nine times in front of Earth Treasure Bodhisattva Statue to successfully complete the worship trip.
九华山佛教协会会长慧深大和尚、九华山佛教协会秘书长能仁法师、博山正觉寺印慧法师，山东省淄博市民宗局相关领导，及海内外僧众、善信四百多人，共同见证一位比丘的虔诚之旅。
Four hundred people including the president of Jiuhua Buddhist association Venerable Master Huishen, Secretary general Venerable Master Nengren, Venerable Master Yinhui of Boshan Zhengjue Monastery, government officials from ethnic and religious affairs bureau of Zibo, and Monks and believers from overall the world, witnessed the Bhiksu’s devout worship trip.
12月6日清晨，仁炟法师带领前来迎接跟拜的法师和信众们，三步一叩拜入山门，拜入九华街。每走一步，默念“南无大愿地藏王菩萨”；每叩一头，顶礼“十方三世一切佛法僧三宝”， 清净、庄严、恭敬、虔诚！
Early morning on Dec. 6th, Venerable Master Renda led monks and believers entered the gate of Jiuhua and arrived Jiuhua Street by kowtowing in every three steps. For each step, they read silently: Namo Great Vow Earth Treasure King Bodhisattva. For each kowtowing, worship the Triple Jewel of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha in ten directions and three worlds. Quiet, solemn, respectful and devout.
三步一叩、三步一叩......朝圣队伍沿着九华街，拜入肉身宝殿北大门，依次叩拜弥陀殿、地藏禅寺大殿。
Kowtowing in every three steps again and again, the worship troops traveled along Jiuhua Street and entered north gate of Shrine to worship Hall of Maitreya Buddha, Great hall of Earth Treasure Bodhisattva Chan Monastery one by one.
朝圣的队伍像一条长龙，在绵长曲折的台阶上起伏，拜上陡峭狭窄的99级石阶，终于到达地藏菩萨肉身宝殿。
The worship troops liked a dragon, ups and downs on the winding stairs, after kowtowed through the 99 steep and narrow stone stairs, finally reached the Hall of Earth Treasure Bodhisattva with real body of Bodhisattva.
在地藏菩萨肉身宝殿，释仁炟法师三步一叩右绕地藏菩萨肉身宝塔三匝，之后在地藏菩萨圣像前瞻礼叩拜，一拜、二拜……九拜。两千多里朝山路，风霜雨雪、尘劳困苦，千言万语融化在无声的伏首顶礼。法师叩拜后缓缓起身，合掌问讯，完成了此次九华山朝圣的最后一拜。
In the hall, Venerable Master Shi Renda clockwise circled three times around the Bodhisattva’s real body pagoda by kowtowing in every three steps, and then worshiped Earth Treasure Bodhisattva Statue. He kneed on the floor once, twice… ninth. More than 2000 Chinese kilometers trip, all the hardships and thousands words were melted into silent worship. After the worship, he got up slowly, folded his palms together for inquire and completed the final worship of this trip.
信众们跟随法师陆续拜入，空气中氤氲着感恩、欢喜与祈愿，心灵的震撼交织着泪水：“南无大愿地藏王菩萨、南无大愿地藏王菩萨......”
Following him, believers continually entered the hall, thankfulness, happiness, and pray were spread in the air, tears mixed with emotions: Namo great vow Earth Treasure King Bodhisattva, namo great vow Earth Treasure King Bodhisattva…
叩拜过后，大众来到肉身宝殿北大门广场，召开了一个简单而又隆重的朝山分享庆祝会。九华山佛教协会慧深大和尚，为大众慈悲开示本师释迦牟尼佛舍太子位、雪山苦行六年成道、创立佛教，以及佛法僧三宝住世的因缘。慧深大和尚评价仁炟法师朝山苦行，秉持了佛陀的正法，传承了佛法的智慧之灯，告诫大众以心为戒，以戒为心，解行并重，缺一不可。同愿同行，共成共想！
After the worship, people gathered on the shrine north gate plaza, to celebrate perfect completion of the worship trip. The president of Jiuhua Mountain Buddhism association Venerable Master Huishen gave a speech on the Karma of Shakyamuni Buddha gave up the position of Prince, practice ascetic for six years on the snow mountain, established Buddhism and Triratna lived in the world. He mentioned that Venerable Master Renda’s worship trip uphold the Buddha’s Dharma, inherited Buddhism wisdom, he also encouraged people to treat mind as precept, treat precept as heart, these two could not be separated. We should follow the same wishes and accomplish them together.
山东淄博博山民宗局于忠才局长对仁炟法师朝山抵达目的地，表达了热烈祝贺和由衷敬佩；赞叹老法师一路朝山广结善缘、弘扬佛法，呼吁行善积德，播洒善心善念，做了无量功德；肯定了正觉寺的建设对当地的佛教文化传播和精神文明建设做出了积极贡献。
The director of ethnic and religious affairs bureau of Zibo Yu Zhongcai expressed his congratulations and admiration to the completion of Venerable Master Renda’s worship trip. He highly praised Venerable Master Renda for performing many good deeds and making many friends, propagating Buddhism, appealing for doing good things to benefit all living creatures, spreading the good will and make countless merits. He also confirmed the restoration of Zhengjue Monastery made huge contribution to propagating Buddhism and strength the spiritual civilization construction.
最后，仁炟老法师为大众开示。他说：“今天终于到达朝山的目的地——九华山地藏王菩萨的肉身宝殿。千言万语，汇成两个字：感恩！感恩诸佛菩萨的加被，感恩龙天护法的佑护；由衷地感恩各级政府领导以及宗教管理部门对于仁炟朝山的大力支持，没有他们的支持，仁炟朝山不可能顺利圆满；感恩跟香义工的护持，算起来有二三十位，感恩他们家人默默地付出和支持，使朝山义工们能够安心朝山；感恩剃度恩师能行长老，感恩师父一直在默默地祝福和加持仁炟，祝愿能行长老健康长寿，长久住世；感恩博山正觉寺常住三宝和常住义工们，是他们的默默付出，使仁炟没有后顾之忧；感恩跟随仁炟“同愿同行一起朝山去”的全国、乃至世界各地的信众们，是你们架起了与仁炟一起朝山的桥梁，坚定了仁炟的信心；感恩沿途信众，为我们提供住处、供养饮食等……；感恩反对、伤害仁炟的人们，是他们坚定了仁炟的信心，没有退转，只有前进，责无旁贷；感恩今天千里迢迢、从海外和祖国各地来到九华山、和仁炟一起叩拜最后一程的所有在座的大众，谢谢你们！”
Venerable Master Renda gave the speech at the end. He said: Today, we finally arrived at the destination of the worship – Shrine of the Real Bodhisattva of Hall of Earth Treasure Bodhisattva in Jiuhua Mountain. Thousands of words concentrated to two words: I’m grateful. I am grateful for Buddhas and Bodhisattvas’ blessing, grateful for Dhammapalas’ protection. I sincerely thank government official of all levels and government officials from religious administration, without their support, I could not accomplish this trip. I also thank the twenty to thirty volunteers who accompany me during this trip, thank support and contribution of their family. Their efforts makes volunteers could complete this trip without worries. Thanks to my tonsure mentor Venerable Master Nengxing for his blessing and best wishes. I wish him longevity and healthy, live long in world. Thanks to the Permanent Dwelling Trip Jewel and resident volunteers in Boshan Zhengjue Monastery, their efforts make our trip without any worries. Thanks to the believers from all over the country even all over the world who followed me in this worship trip, you built a bridge for me to worship Jiuhua Mountain together, you confirmed my confidence. Thanks to the believers along the trip who offered us food and lodging. Thanks for people who against, even hurt me, they firmed my decision, and without holding back. Thanks for all of you who came to Jiuhua Mountain from every corner of our country, even from outside the country to kowtow with me for this last portion of the worship trip, thank you all.
仁炟法师在圆满九华山朝圣之后送给大家六句偈：“人人礼佛，天天朝圣，同愿同行，实修实证，悲智双运，明心见性！”他勉励大众，虽然今天朝山已经到达目的地，但是修行没有结束，修行永远继续。
Venerable Master Renda wrote six sentences to people after accomplishing the worship trip to Jiuhua Mountain: everyone worships Buddha, worships Buddha everyday, has the same vows and fulfill them together, practices Buddhism, gain compassion and wisdom, and finally find one’s true self”. He encouraged everyone with following sentences: although we accomplished the worship trip today, the practice of Buddhism is not completed yet, it continues forever.
